As part of the TÜBİTAK-supported project titled “Developing Content and Indexing Criteria for Scientific and Artistic Video Articles”, the event “Digital Transformation in Academic Publishing: Video Article Publishing in Science and Art” was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Hülya Önal at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ), Faculty of Communication.

The event brought together stakeholders specialized in academic publishing, academicians, and leading representatives of the sector. Notable participants included Esra Bahşi, Turkey Representative of Peter Lang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sercan Karav, Dean of Research; Hüseyin Akçay from Yonca Technology; Prof. Dr. Yunus Eryaman, President of the World Education Research Association and editor at international publishing houses; Academic Publishing Consultant Dr. Kerim Sarıgül; Sibel Tabanlıoğlu from TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM TR Index; Didem Aydan from TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM DergiPark; and Assis. Prof. Dr. Filiz Mutlu, Coordinator of Scientific Publications and Journals at ÇOMÜ.

The event focused on the role and significance of the audiovisual article format in academia. Discussions addressed technical aspects such as indexing video articles, necessary infrastructural adjustments, and the future of this publishing format. Additionally, innovative approaches in academic publishing were explored, and strategic suggestions were developed to promote the adoption of video article formats, along with evaluations of potential opportunities in this field.

Highlighting the importance of digital transformation in academic publishing, the event showcased the potential of new publishing formats in scientific and artistic production. Participants reached a consensus on the development of collaborative and innovative approaches.
